KXEN Extreme Data Mining Wins User and Analyst Praise

Teradata No Comments »

San Francisco/Paris — December 14, 2006

A £3M increase in sales, a 12x gain in efficiency and unmatched levels of productivity were among achievements cited by users and analysts for the KXEN suite of data mining tools at the company’s two user group meetings in the US and Europe.

The accolades came from more than 65 major telecommunications, banking, utility and retail companies and from three international analyst firms attending user events in San Francisco and Paris. They included eBay, Lowe’s, Wells Fargo, E.ON and Vodafone together with Gartner, IDC and Bloor Research and Alterian, Microstrategy, and Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation.

In Paris head of CRM at the UK retail arm of energy company E.ON Mark Perrett revealed that a single direct mail analytical model built using KXEN’s software was set to: “deliver a £3M incremental contribution over the next 12 months.”

Similarly Belgium’s largest fixed/mobile telecom operator Belgacom reported a huge improvement in model building efficiency since adopting KXEN. “We needed an efficient tool with very good predictive performance, which could minimize our modeling time, and which had a direct link to Teradata,” said Frédéric Binon, Marketing Expert Manager. “KXEN is a perfect fit.”

In San Francisco Derek Pollitt, director of campaign management and customer knowledge at Canada’s largest mobile operator, Rogers Wireless, told industry peers how KXEN was helping meet competitive challenges. “KXEN lets moderately skilled employees build good quality models at least seven times quicker, and which comfortably outperform models built by specialist third parties. And by using more customer knowledge we can bring together the what, who and when of customer interaction and manage it across multiple channels.”

Also from the telecommunications industry is Seymour Douglas, director of CRM and database marketing at Cox Communications, the US’ third largest cable operator. “The fundamental philosophical and technical beauty of KXEN is that it allows me to create an organization that can focus on solving business problems rather than focusing on technology or techniques to solve business problems.”

Independent industry analysts were also quick to point up the advantages of KXEN’s software and its approach to business analytics. “KXEN is a tool that I have the greatest of respect for, it is capable of meaningful and precise analysis and prediction with a productivity which in my experience is unmatched by any of its competitors,” said Bloor Research analyst David Norris after attending the Paris event.

The argument for high productivity modelling was echoed by Gareth Herschel, Research Director CRM Analytics at Gartner. He told the audience in San Francisco that available customer data was fast outstripping most companies’ ability to analyse it. “Analytics offers real potential for sustainable competitive advantage but it will take a data mining factory approach to meet the latent demand left by conventional craftsman analysis,” he said.

Dubbed Extreme Data Mining for its speed and its unique hundreds-of-models/thousands-of-variables capability, KXEN’s software is used by over 170 leading companies at more than 500 locations worldwide. At the user events many of them traded hints and tips on the KXEN software’s use and heard about future developments from company executives. Event sponsors Alterian, Microstrategy and Teradata also presented.

About KXEN

KXEN’s unmatched speed, ease of use and scalability enable leading companies around the world to expand the use of predictive analytics and enhance corporate performance. Burlington, MA (Vocus/PRWEB) January 31, 2011

expressor software, a leading provider of free and affordable data integration software, today announced that the company is building strong market momentum with a brand new fast, easy to download and use ETL product, and new hires in key areas of its operations.

“It took us some time to get all the components of our new business model up and running,” said Bob Potter, president and CEO, expressor software. “I am very excited about the fact that we are entering 2011 with a significantly improved and redesigned product set that fully supports our high-transaction business model going forward. The download activity has surpassed our very high expectations to date and I’m expecting close to 20,000 unique downloads of the free Studio product this year.”

“expressor software has made significant progress in all areas of its operations,” added Melinda Smith, CFO, expressor software. “I am very pleased with our year end achievements in customer and bookings growth and our ability to exceed 2010 cash flow targets. Our customer acquisition and sales goals for fiscal year 2011 are very ambitious, but I’m optimistic based on 2010 growth and momentum that we will be able to achieve them.”

Product, sales and marketing momentum

During Q4 2010, expressor continued to release breakthrough products, increase customers, hired senior staff and receive positive customer and analyst feedback on its brand new expressor 3.0 data integration platform. Key highlights include:

Launched expressor 3.0 beta program, which was started in mid-2010 and was opened to the public in earlier November. Over 1,500 unique users downloaded the new expressor Studio beta product and utilized the company’s new Community Center to receive free online forum support, online training via tutorials, and access to expressor’s knowledge base and online documentation.

Released expressor Studio 3.0 as a free community edition in late December 2010 and announced its general availability (GA) in early January. expressor Studio is a next-generation data integration application with simplified data mappings and reusable business rules. The GA release of expressor Studio is being followed by the release of the commercial expressor Standard Edition 3.1 in late February 2011.

In addition to free community forum support, expressor announced a comprehensive annual support package priced at 1,150 dollars, which enables expressor Studio users to receive unlimited incidence reporting; email and phone support; guaranteed response; automatic notification of updates and bug fixes; 3 hours of product mentoring; and the ability to file enhancement requests. This comprehensive, yet affordable offering is the most generous support package in the industry and by far outmatches similarly priced offerings provided by open source ETL vendors.

Added new and repeat customers including Western World Insurance Group and Viverae and continued joint partnering and marketing with Teradata by exhibiting at the Teradata Partners user group conference in late October, and conducting its first joint webinar with Teradata in early November 2010.

expressor also had a strong showing at the PASS SQL Server Summit 2010 the week of November 8, where the company demonstrated the new expressor Studio 3.0 product, announced the public beta and GA plans for it, and jumpstarted the Studio download program right at the show floor. At the event, expressor held its first SQL Server MVP advisory council meeting to receive their input on how expressor can best position and market its product into the SQL Server community.

Brought on board Alan DiPietro, formerly of LogMeIn, as Vice President of Sales, who is an expert in building and managing high-transaction sales environments. expressor also hired Wiqar Chaudry, formerly of Mobile Messenger and Epsilon, as the company’s product manager for the expressor 3.x product line.

“We like the new Semantic Types capability in expressor Studio 3.0 and are firmly of the belief that the use of semantics is the way forward in many technology areas, of which data integration is just one,” said Philip Howard, Research Director at Bloor Research. “When combined with cross-core parallelism in the commercial editions of expressor 3.x, it is our opinion that expressor offers significant advantages over traditional methods in terms of ease of use, reuse and performance.”

About expressor software

expressor software knows data integration — and we know today’s most capable data integration tools are too complex and too expensive. Our vision is to provide enterprise-class data integration software that is cost-effective, fast and easy to use.

expressor’s game-changing usability enables you to use less technical, lower-cost development resources. Our unique, active metadata foundation simplifies data mapping and transformation to reduce your time-to-value. And our dramatically lower cost makes it easy to justify replacing your brittle and expensive hand-coded implementations or underperforming in-house ETL tools. Version 3 of expressor is a comprehensive design, development and deployment platform available in three editions tailored to support the full range of data integration applications, from tactical data migrations to the largest enterprise data warehouses and strategic, predictive analytics.

IT Software Online training courses

Teradata No Comments »

First of all, the most obvious benefit of online training courses is that those enrolled do not need to take time away from their daily routines in order to attend a class. Most programs involving continuing education online allow the students to work at their own paces at whatever hours they choose. Students can work a full 9 to 5 day, then go home and relax comfortably while logging in to the next module of a lesson.

Secondly, online training courses are often interactive and exciting for the student that is participating. Instead of staring numbly at a book of dry facts and figures, eLearning programs usually incorporate sound and video. Online training courses USA  When online training courses cover a computer-based skill, such as learning how to use a new program, the student can often use that program directly while he or she follows along with the curriculum.

Third, a student participating in continuing education online can take a class at his or her own pace. If Mary is a fast learner, she may be able to complete her online training courses in half of the time allotted, pass her final exams, and gain certification early. If Adam works at a slow-and-steady pace, he can take extra time to read a module over again or to revisit key concepts, all without being penalized or causing other classmates to feel that they are being held back.

The worldwide e-learning industry http:// www.cynosureks.com is estimated to be worth over thirty-eight (38) billion euro. Although in the European Union only about 20% of e-learning products are produced within the common market. Online training courses USA Developments in internet and multimedia technologies are the basic enabler of e-learning, with content. The vast majority of courses are concentrated in the IT, Programming and computer skills areas. E-Learning is a catch-all term that covers a wide range of instructional material that can be delivered on a CD-ROM or DVD, over a local area network (LAN), or on the Internet. However most internet users would probably expect that whatever medium they use the application serving the course would be backed up by online updates and testing. Finally, a company offering continuing education online can administrate the entire course from start to finish, without the student needing to be concerned or the employer needing to get involved. Some companies will even establish websites that students or employers can visit on a regular basis to get information about test scores, upcoming online training courses, and more. Progress reports can also be posted on these sites.

How can you recognize quality online training courses?

When you are searching for continuing education http://cynosureks.com/Courses.html online for yourself or for your company, there are a few things you should look for to make sure that you will get the highest return on your investment. You can ask the administrator of the online training courses how you will be billed for the services. Some companies make you pay a large fee up front, whether the students who enrolled actually take the full set of classes or not. Other companies offering continuing education online may allow you to pay as you go, paying only for the modules that you will use. This can save a business a great deal of money over the long term.

In addition, you can find out if the eLearning program offers any special certification or preparation for certification exams that can be taken elsewhere. Online training courses that simply teach basic skills may be acceptable for some enrollees, but others may be disappointed to find at the end of the course that they have little to show for it. If you want your employees to get the most out of your investment in continuing education online, make sure that they will receive legitimate training that can be used long after the class is over.

Most importantly, make sure that the online training courses are covering the most up-to-date information that is available. This is particularly critical when it comes to new technology. Last year’s software may not contain the same features as this year’s – and if the eLearning program is stuck in the past, the students may finish the class missing critical knowledge. Before you enroll yourself or your staff in continuing education online, ask if the courses will cover the latest and greatest information or if they will instead simply provide a general overview, or worse, an outdated system.

If you take the time to do your research before enrolling in continuing education online, you can make sure to choose a program with the most benefit to your situation. Online training courses can save you as an individual or your company a great deal of time and money while offering important information. And, on completion of an eLearning course, attendees will find themselves with valuable new knowledge that improves their job qualifications as well as the company’s bottom line.

Masood is the CEO and co-founder of Cynosureks Solutions, a company offering online training courses [http://www.cynosureks.com] to individual and businesses. Cynosureks Knowledge Solutions in 2007 with his wife in order to offer education to the United States. What is Db2? History, Editions, and Video Illustrations

Teradata No Comments »

Historical Background

DB2 is a relational database management system produced by IBM that IBM refers to as a “data server.” What is a relational database? A relational database is a set of files that has been analyzed for all of the relationships between fields. The related fields are pulled out of the original files in order to minimize redundancy in the data being stored. For example, instead of storing the information that TN is the state Tennessee in every record, that information is pulled out of the original file and stored only once in a state code file.

The idea of a relational database first arose in 1970 when Dr. E.F. Codd formally stated a number of algebraic rules that could be applied to data manipulation. IBM left the application of Codd’s principles to a group of programmers that created a language that was eventually called SQL (Structured Query Language). DB2 was the name given to the Database Management System in 1982, and it is the first database to use SQL.

At first, DB2 was only available on IBM mainframes, but during the 1990′s DB2 spread to many other platforms, LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows), mid-range computers i5/OS (formerly AS/400) and even on PDAs. During the 90s, IBM also introduced it’s Universal Server. The Universal Server shifted the technology to an object-related SQL DBMS that allows developers to define their own data types from more primitive data types.

In 2001, IBM bought Informix and incorporated many of it’s database features into the DB2 product suite.

In 2006, IBM announced “Viper,” the codename for DB2 9 on distributed platforms and DB2 9 on z/OS. DB2 9 offers the ability to store XML “natively,” and it also allows storage compression to save on disk space. pureXML(tm) is the name that IBM uses to talk about the ability to store XML natively.

IBM’s biggest competitors are Teradata for Data Warehousing and Oracle. Microsoft’s SQL Server and MySQL are serious competitors in the smaller environments.

Editions

IBM’s Product Summary page for DB2 (http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/db2/) allows one to download the various editions after registering. The DB2 Express-c edition is free, and the other editions allow you to have a 90-day free trial.

IBM will send you a free Discovery DVD (https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?lang=en_US&source=swg-db2kit) that has: # DB2 Express-C 9 (Linux and Windows), # DB2 Developer Workbench (Linux and Windows), # a comparison of all Editions from Express to Enterprise, # webcasts, tutorials, and much more!

Here is a list of some of the major features of several of the DB2 Editions:

The Main Reason to buy CRM

Teradata No Comments »

A lot of people buy a CRM solution because they know another business that successfully uses one or they just simply need a customer database. It is important to note that all CRM solutions are different especially when we consider interoperability with your existing and future systems. The main reasons to buy a CRM solution should be to save you thousands on staff resources, hardware, software, integration and maintenance. Having worked with numerous CRM application providers such as SAP, Siebel and Teradata my advice is to tread carefully and consider the following:

* Don’t be lured by the endless list of features. Most business only use a small percentage of these features.

* Make sure the CRM or customer data base provider focuses on your business not their software.

* Keep in mind that sales people want systems that simplify their job not make it harder. Hence focus on business automation not sales reporting. (The system should give back more time to the sales person so he or she can focus on sales not data entry)

*  Identify upfront the Total cost of Purchasing, Integration, Maintenance and Ownership. Be careful to ensure that you can have all your main sales systems integrated into 1 system and find out that cost. (Eliminate the need for costly integration and multiple silos of data)

* Make sure the system can be customised by non IT literate people and the provider has the ability of providing simple cost effective customisation. Every business is different thus some require basic customisation.

* Make sure the system is simple to use has a great and familiar user interface and built upon robust future proof platforms.

CRM mistakes can be costly. Make sure the CRM provider it’s all about your business and the CRM Solution is all about your customers.

20 years in the IT, Telecoms, Software and Finance Industries on technologies such as IP, 3G, GPRS, GSM, Mobile Networks, CRM, Case Management & Computer systems.
