Skytide’s Analytical Platform Wins eWeek’s 7th Annual Excellence Awards Program For Analytics And Reporting

Noetix No Comments »

San Mateo, California — June 18, 2007

Skytide, announced today that eWEEK, a Ziff Davis Media publication and one of the IT industry’s leading enterprise magazines, has named the Skytide Analytical Platform™ 2.0 a winner in eWEEK’s seventh Annual Excellence Awards program in the Analytics and Reporting category. Skytide was a winner over Business Objects’ CrystalReports and Noetix Enterprise Technology Suite 5.5.

“We are honored that Skytide was recognized for excellence in analytics and reporting over more traditional players in this industry, such as Business Objects. Companies are faced with tremendous data analytics challenges. High data volumes, complex formats and immediacy of results all part of the business environment, but not easily handled with traditional analytical methods. Skytide offers a new way to deliver analytics across all data, at extreme volumes, and with near real-time results. Skytide has delivered immediate value to its customers by providing a way to understand data in ways never before possible,” said Keith Feingold, CEO and president, Skytide.

The award was based on Skytide’s ability to deliver advanced analytical capabilities to enterprise users, without relying on a data warehouse. Key benefits noted in the award process included:

•Skytide gives companies the ability to directly access and analyze non-relational and relational data sources without the time consuming ETL process other business intelligence solutions demand;

•Skytide can analyze very large volumes of data in near real-time;

•Skytide enables analysis and reporting directly against XML, HTML, HTTP, and log files, enabling companies to correlate and analyze ALL the data, not a shredded sub-set;

•Skytide does not require data to be restructured into a star or snowflake schema, and there is therefore no requirement to transport all of the data into a dedicated relational repository;

•Skytide offers ad-hoc reporting to allow easy drill-down into the data sets.

The eWEEK Excellence Awards program provides enterprise IT professionals with a benchmark for assessing a wide range of technology products and services. Evaluating the entries this year was a panel of experts including eWEEK Labs analysts and eWEEK Corporate Partners, providing a unique mix of technical and real-world analysis.

“The Excellence Awards program allows us to make recommendations about products that respond to the complex and dynamic demands that eWEEK readers are facing,” said eWEEK Editorial Director Eric Lundquist. “Opportunities are being created by new technology and by customers’ interest in new ways of using that technology.”

Proceeds from this year’s Excellence Awards program will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, in support of programs that leverage technology

The BeyeNETWORK Releases an Exclusive Interview Featuring Noetix

Noetix No Comments »

BeyeNETWORK

Denver, CO — February 9, 2009

Daryl Orts, vice president, Engineering Technologies for Noetix, recently participated in an exclusive interview with the BeyeNETWORK (www.BeyeNETWORK.com ).

To listen to the interview please click here.

In this interview, Orts explains how enterprise applications such as Oracle E-Business are designed for transactional efficiency, not reporting ease. Enterprise application databases contain complex data structures that make little sense to the non-technical professional, impeding their ability to create operational reports on their own. A true user-friendly reporting solution requires manual mapping to the enterprise application database or the creation of a metadata layer with meaningful business terminology before any report development can begin.

“Query and reporting tools from leading BI vendors such as Business Objects, Cognos, and Oracle provide generic metadata templates which make an attempt to jumpstart the mapping effort. However these tools still require a significant amount of additional work to provide the user with metadata that is configuration specific for their unique needs,” says Daryl Orts, vice president, Engineering Technologies for Noetix. “Bridging the information gap between database complexity and reporting simplicity is the key challenge in implementing, deploying and maintaining BI systems for any organization.”

“Business intelligence in general is an industry that is maturing on many levels and offering increasingly new and different capabilities for organizations,” says Ron Powell, cofounder and editorial director of the BeyeNETWORK. “However, basic struggles with data access and operational reporting persist. Noetix offers a BI access layer for Oracle Applications that is cost-effective and quick-to-implement.”

The BeyeNETWORK Spotlights are intuitive dialogues with innovative solution providers, and these spotlights provide a cutting-edge introduction to the new products and services of interest to the business intelligence community. The Network publishes six newsletters serving more than 115,000 readers across a wide variety of industries, making it the largest newsletter-based information source for business intelligence, performance management, data warehousing, data integration and data quality.

About Noetix

More than 1,400 customers worldwide use Noetix to quickly and cost-effectively access the enterprise application data they need to make important business decisions every day. By providing instant, configuration-specific operational reporting and ad hoc query for Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise, and Siebel CRM, Noetix delivers the fastest time to business answers. Our patented metadata-driven software and lean architecture significantly reduces the cost to implement and maintain an enterprise application reporting environment. Noetix’s proven technology is being used by industry-leading customers worldwide, including: Cummins, Motorola, Starbucks, Toshiba, Welch’s and Visa.
